HAPPY TALES!

Below, Charlie Brown and Millie during their CFC Days!

Millie and Charlie Brown find a home!

Millie and Charlie Brown have been the first addition to our family. Mike and I were approaching our one-year anniversary, and after buying our first house, were looking to move to the next step - PET ADOPTON... Then one day, on the PetFinder website, Mike was searching for dogs and directed me to look at a little female husky mix. With adoration and awe, Mike said, "She's so pretty" Mike became relentless about visiting this little girl and her small brown lab companion. Once at Caring for Creatures, we met Millie and Charlie, sat, gave pets to Millie, and tossed biscuits to them. We were told that CFC didn't want these pups to be separated, and Charlie was still very frightened, so Mike and I came back to Caring for Creatures often.

While Mike's love for them was instantaneous, I was still unsure. It seemed that while Mike and Millie bonded with ease, Charlie and I were getting used to the idea of each other. With the persistent visits I grew to miss them very much over the weeks when we had to leave them behind. We knew it was time to bring Millie and Charlie home when Charlie finally let me pet him under his chin. We brought them home on Feb. 11, 2006 .

It has almost been one year and their growth and development has been remarkable. It is with wonder that I can say that Charlie Brown loves to be held and cuddled more than Millie, and constantly gives kisses. Both know how to play, and soft squeaky toys seem to be their favorite. Much to our dismay, Mike and I continually purchase toys as one stuffed toys lasts an average of 5 hours in the house. Millie shows her sassy side a lot as she "speaks" and gives us some interesting looks, and Charlie loves to dance when we come home. Millie has become the favorite of the local neighborhood children, and they call her by name when they see her. My Mom (aka "Puppy Grandma") begs to come over to see them, so we always have a pet sitter when Mike and I travel. Christmas was hilarious as the dogs got the same amount of presents as Mike and I did; an endless supply of chewies, new puppy jackets, puppy blankets, toys, and gourmet food was showered upon them.

They are the best companions I could have ever hoped for, and Mike and I cannot believe how blessed we are to have them in our lives. I must also mention Sue Scott, dedicated volunteer, for having such a pivotal and integral part of their care, training, and healing process. Thank you, Caring for Creatures, for working so hard with them and preparing them for their new home.
